At Mountain Community Children's Centre:
Children

Children are competent learners, and that play-based inquiry-led environments foster their curiosity and creativity.
We incorporate the observed interests and abilities of each child together with the input we gather from their families to develop an individualised play-based curriculum referring to the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia V2.0, 2022.
We are strong advocates for the safety and rights of all.
We recognise children’s rights and the importance of having agency and a voice that fosters children’s roles in decision making in regards to their learning.
We acknowledge all children’s social, cultural, physical and linguistic diversity. Our inclusion ensures that all children meaningfully participate and experience positive outcomes during their day.
Community Connections

We develop partnerships with parents, family members and community. We encourage respect and celebrate the diversity of individuals within our local and wider community.
We acknowledge our traditional custodians of the Darkinjung land on which we live, learn, play, and explore.
We contribute to our local community during many social events. This engages our partnerships and important connections as we are a vital part of the Mountain and surrounding districts.
We believe these opportunities to engage with our local community fosters children’s social and emotional growth through a sense of belonging and confidence.
Wellbeing

We provide a positive and respectful environment that nurtures and supports the wellbeing of educators, children and families.
Educators are supported to effectively communicate, collaborate and reflect with each other, children, families and professionals. This positively impacts the education and care provided to the children and families.
We encourage the children to have self-awareness of their own wellbeing. The environment is safe and supportive, and children can freely express emotions and engage in activities that build resilience and confidence.
Environment

We acknowledge the shared responsibility with the Darkinjung people to care for our land on which we live, play and explore.
We encourage children to be environmentally responsible and sustainable and to respect and care for their environment both within the centre and the wider community.
We acknowledge that the children are constantly surrounded by the outdoor environment due to their rural upbringing therefore they often choose to spend a lot of time in this outdoor environment.
We provide children with the opportunity to engage and create with natural open-ended resources that foster creativity, imagination, social skills both within our indoor and outdoor environment.
